JUDr. Stanislav DEVÁTÝ, Dr.
Education
Graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague.
Career
Before November 1989, he was active in the dissident movement. From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of parliament at the Federal Assembly of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic. From 1992 to 1996 he was director of the Czech Security Information Service (BIS), the Czech Republic’s counter-intelligence service. Since 1997 he has focused on advocacy, in particular in the fields of human rights and freedoms, criminal law, the protection of personal rights, human respect and dignity, constitutional law, and related matters. He was awarded the title Dr. in 1998.
Publications
He is an active writer in the field of law. With his colleague, JUDr. Petr Toman, he has co-authored the publication “Ochrana dobré pověsti a názvu právnických osoby”, Linde 2001 and the Commentary on the Civil Code, Linde Praha, a.s. 2002.
Awards
In the 2006 LAWYER OF THE YEAR competition organized by the law portal EPRAVO CZ in cooperation with the Czech Bar Association, JUDr. Stanislav Devátý, Dr., and his colleague JUDr. Jaroslav Novák, Ph.D. were both ranked within the top five in the category ‘Civil Rights and Human Rights’.
